Public Meeting on Bass Tournament Issuance Process

CONCORD, NH -- Due to the increasing popularity in bass fishing and bass fishing tournaments, the NH Fish and Game Department's Inland Fisheries Division feels it is prudent and timely to review its bass tournament permit issuance process.

"The current system was enacted when we were issuing far fewer tournaments," explains Inland Fisheries Chief Jason Smith.  "The process has served us well, but we feel that some adjustments may be helpful to serve tournament organizations more effectively and efficiently."

Additionally, Smith noted that the new fee structure implemented in 2017 has led to some unintended confusion. The Inland Fisheries Division intends to review the current process and see if improvements can be made to benefit both staff and the angling community.

To provide an opportunity for input and suggestions, there will be a public information meeting at 6:30 p.m. on February 15, 2018, at NH Fish and Game Headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH.

"Some proposed changes may involve administrative rulemaking, which would require additional time, so it is important to get the process started soon," said Smith. "We encourage you to attend and bring forward any ideas and suggestions you and your clubs may have."
