Public Notice: Hearing on Proposed Marine Aquaculture Licenses

DURHAM, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on three proposed marine aquaculture license applications on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, two at 6:30 p.m., and one at 6:45 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, NH 03801.  The public is welcome to attend and to offer comments on the proposed aquaculture plans.


At 6:30 p.m., the applications of Isles of Shoals Mariculture, LLC will be heard regarding their proposed amendment to Licenses # 2017-21 and 2017-22 to allow for the cultivation of Belon oysters, sea scallops, sugar kelp, horse tail kelp, winged kelp, Porphyra spp., dulse, and sea lettuce. The licensed locations are located offshore Rye, NH – Lat. 42.960833/ Long. -70.710083 in about 110-ft water depth.


At 6:45 p.m., the application of Damon Frampton will be heard regarding his proposed amendment to License #2017-24 to use concrete blocks to anchor long-lines instead of anchor screws.  The licensed location is southwest of White Island Ledge, Isles of Shoals– Lat. 42.958889/ Long -70.655556 in about 110-ft water depth.


Detailed plans for this project are available for public review at or at the Department’s Region 3 office in Durham.
