Spring 2017 Outdoor Adventure Talks

CONCORD, N.H. – Jump start your spring outdoor adventures with these free talks being offered by the NH Fish and Game Department in April. Unless noted, the talks take place at 7 p.m. at Fish and Game headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. No pre-registration is required. Admission is free (except film festival). Get inspired by the outScott Jacksondoor world!

 

CANCELLED - April 5:  Trolling NH’s Big Lakes – Learn about trolling techniques, strategies and gear from an expert fishing guide. Scott Jackson of The Great North Woods Guides Service and owner of the NH Outdoor Learning Center explains trolling speeds and depths, downrigger and leadcore set-ups, jig boxes, lure/bait selection. Understand fish feeding patterns like a professional. Learn what it takes to catch trout and salmon on the big lakes of New England!  Good for all experience levels. See the gear and bring your questions.

 

April 11: Raptors of New Hampshire – See live birds of prey, like owls and red-tailed hawks. This talk is presented by Kevin Wall, Director of Education at NH Audubon. Learn about the adaptations that helped establish these raptors as some of New Hampshire’s top predators. Raptors play a unique role in our ecosystem. At this entertaining presentation, you’ll learn how NH Audubon assists in protecting raptors, and how you can help.

 

April 12: Reel Paddling Film Festival at Red River Theatres, Concord – Ride the rapids at the Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour, coming to Red River Theatres in Concord, NH, on April 12 at 7:00 p.m. Featured films may include canoeing in the Arctic, kayaking Africa’s rivers, and stand-up paddleboard surfing in Barbados. Co-hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, NH Fish and Game, and Contoocook River Canoe Company. All participants will have a chance to win paddling gear donated by NRS. Come enjoy some truly great films, meet other paddlers, and support a great cause! Tickets are $12 online at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org – or $15 at the door.

 

April 19: Turkey Hunting Seminar – Discover the time-honored tradition of spring turkey hunting in New Hampshire with a talk by the NH Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Learn the basics of turkey hunting, turkey calling and turkey hunting safety. Everything you need to know to get your gobbler this spring!
