Vermont Girl Injured in New Hampshire ATV Crash

KEENE, N.H. -- On October 13, 2012, at approximately 2:53 p.m., Conservation Officers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded to the Hinsdale Campground at Thicket Hill in Hinsdale for a two-vehicle OHRV(off highway recreational vehicle) accident.  The accident occurred in the area of the power lines on private property outside of the campground.

The accident involved an ATV (all terrain vehicle) and a trail bike.   A 14-year-old female from Bennington, VT, was operating the ATV traveling east on a trail.  The operator of the trail bike, Michael Binney, age 52, of East Long Meadow, MA, was traveling in a northerly direction when he collided with the ATV at a trail intersection.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the front wheel of Binney’s trail bike struck the juvenile female in the collision.  The girl sustained serious injuries and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital by Hinsdale Fire, where she was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Binney stated he was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.  The accident is under investigation by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the Hinsdale Police Department.
