It's cool to see the big fish in the stocking truck tanks!

GREENLAND, N.H. – Join in the fun at the Winnicut River Restoration and Fish Pass Open House on Saturday, July 21, 2012. This family-friendly event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department public access site near the site of the former Winnicut Dam in Greenland, N.H.

The event will be held next to the Winnicut River, using the gravel driveway on the north side of Route 33 (next to the Country View Restaurant). Admission is free.

Site tours of the restoration site and the new fish pass and hands-on activities will go on throughout the event. Come enjoy exhibits about fish and clean water presented by several New Hampshire environmental organizations.

Kids can climb onto a N.H. Fish and Game hatchery stocking truck to see live trout, and they'll love the creative, fun (and free) children's activity offered by the Winnicut River Watershed Coalition.

There will be a native plant ID contest, items for sale, and loads of updates on the great work that these participating groups have been doing within the Winnicut River watershed (the area of land that drains to the Winnicut River).

Led by the Winnicut River Watershed Coalition, an initiative of the New Hampshire Rivers Council, and co-sponsored by Great Bay Trout Unlimited, Conservation Law Foundation’s Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper, New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, this event is part of the Greenland community-wide celebration “Summer Fun and Jason’s Run.”
