Lost Ossipee Woman Found During Overnight Search
CONCORD, N.H. – N.H. Fish and Game Conservation Officers and Ossipee Fire Department personnel located a lost woman early this morning, October 19, 2011, after she was reported missing on Tuesday. Marjorie Mason, age 57, had left her Effingham Road home at about 12:30 p.m. on October 18, for her usual walk in Pine River State Forest in Ossipee. When she did not return home by 5:00 p.m., Mason’s family began searching for her. According to Fish and Game Lt. James Goss, the family found her water bottle near a trailhead frequented by Mason, and contacted the Ossipee and Effingham Police Departments for assistance after dark. N.H. Fish and Game was called in at about 11:00 p.m.
More than 20 searchers participated in the overnight search effort. Mason was found at about 3:15 a.m., approximately one mile from her home, in the White Pond area. She was wet and cold from crossing the Pine River, Goss said. Mason was transported to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro and treated for mild hypothermia.
