Sea Herring Landing Days -- Conference Call on October 14, 2010
DURHAM, N.H. -- Commercial harvesters of Atlantic herring (sea herring) should note that the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) Atlantic Herring Section will hold a “days out” conference call on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. to review Area 1A catch rates and make adjustments as necessary to the current agreement of two landing days per week to allow for full harvest of the quota. Section members agreed to hold a conference call because there may not be enough time to hold a public meeting and still harvest the entire quota.
Section members and the public can participate in the conference call by calling 877-793-4359 and then entering 023861 when prompted for a passcode.
Prior to the call, updated catch rates and harvest projections will be available on the ASMFC website at www.asmfc.org/meetings.htm.
For more information, contact Christopher Vonderweidt, ASMFC Fishery Management Plan Coordinator, at email@example.com or 202-289-6400; or the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Marine Fisheries Division at 603-868-1095.
The current days out agreement prohibits fishermen from landing more than 2,000 pounds of Atlantic herring on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
