Recovered Body from Waterville Valley, N.H., Identified as Missing Elderly Woman

The NH Fish and Game Department today stated that the results of an autopsy by the NH State Medical Examiners Office positively identified the recovered body from the remote woods in Waterville Valley, NH, on October 27, 2010, to be Beth Upton, an elderly woman who went missing after planning to take a short walk on September 7, 2010. There is believed to be no foul play involved in her disappearance.

Body Recovered From Remote Woods in Waterville Valley, NH

The NH Fish and Game Department has recovered the body of an adult female from a remote wooded area in Waterville Valley, NH. Around 2:45 pm this afternoon authorities were notified of a body that was discovered by searchers and members of the Waterville Valley Police Department.  The body was discovered a short distance off of a remote trail in the White Mountain National Forest. 

Pending identification, the body may be that of Beth Upton who has been missing in Waterville Valley since September 7, 2010, when she left her residence to take a short walk. 

NH State Police is assisting in the investigation with the State Medical Examiners Office who will be conducting an autopsy on Thursday, October 28, 2010 to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death. The Waterville Valley Public Safety Department assisted NH Fish and Game with the removal of the body from the woods.
