Public Hearing Sept. 13 on Proposed Vt./N.H. Reciprocal Snow Machine Weekend

CONCORD, N.H. – People who enjoy snowmobiling in New Hampshire and Vermont would have a chance to enjoy a reciprocal weekend of cross-border snow touring under rules being proposed by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.  N.H. Fish and Game is proposing to establish the third Saturday and Sunday in January as the period when all snowmobiles registered in Vermont may ride any trail in New Hampshire.  Fish and Game’s intent is to adopt this rule only if Vermont allows New Hampshire-registered snowmobiles on all Vermont snowmobile trails during the same weekend.

A public hearing on the proposed Vermont-N.H. reciprocal snowmobile weekend will be held on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H.

The proposed rule, with original and proposed language, may be found at www.wildnh.com/Legislative/Notices_summary.htm.

Written comments on the proposed changes may be submitted by September 24, 2010; e-mail to comments@wildlife.nh.gov (please put "Comment on Snowmobile Rules" in subject line); fax to (603) 271-1438; or mail to Executive Director, N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department works in partnership with the public to conserve manage and protect the state’s fish, wildlife and marine resources and their habitats, and provide the public with opportunities to use and appreciate these resources.  Visit www.ride.nh.gov
