Free Events in Concord and Holderness
National Hunting and Fishing Day Events in N.H. -- September 25, 2010

CONCORD, N.H. -- This fall's big hunting and fishing celebration in the Granite State will be National Hunting and Fishing Day – September 25, 2010 – with free attractions in Concord and Holderness, hosted by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and sponsored by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of N.H.  Here's what's happening:

SPORTING EXPO IN CONCORD:  Get set for hunting and fishing seasons ahead at a giant outdoor sporting expo at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Admission is free. Under the big tent, more than 40 product manufacturer representatives will showcase the latest hunting and fishing-related products and services. The Expo includes exhibits, demonstrations and activities for visitors. A demo and display area will feature archery and air rifle ranges; hunting gear and accessories – from guns to decoys to scents and calls; pointing dog and retriever demonstrations; duck and goose calling lessons; taxidermy exhibits; fly-tying demonstrations; display of state-record buck and "Forever Locked" moose exhibit; food concession midday. Over 50 raffle prizes, ranging from the Thompson/Center Arms Impact .50 caliber muzzleloader to a pheasant hunt for two and a sausage maker/meat grinder.  Come get primed for the upcoming seasons!

OPEN HOUSE AT OWL BROOK HUNTER EDUCATION CENTER IN HOLDERNESS: Also on Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Fish and Game’s Owl Brook Hunter Education Center at 387 Perch Pond Road in Holderness will hold a public Open House, featuring hands-on activities and demonstrations for youth and families. Admission is free. Special activities at Owl Brook during the National Hunting and Fishing Day event include a 3-D woodland archery course; a video-based interactive shooting simulator; opportunities to try Sturm Ruger and Thompson/Center Arms shotguns and muzzleloaders; a treestand safety activity; trapping techniques demos by the N.H. Trappers Association; and free ice cream donated by Granite State Dairy Promotion. Adults can enter a FREE raffle for firearms donated by Thompson Center Arms and Sturm Ruger.
