MEDIA ADVISORY: State of the Birds Report Release, 3/11/2010
CONCORD, NH - Members of the media are invited to attend an event announcing the release of the “State of New Hampshire’s Birds” report from New Hampshire Audubon and the NH Fish and Game Department.
The groundbreaking State of the Birds report is the first to summarize population trends for all of New Hampshire’s breeding birds -- a total of 186 species. Despite the notable recovery of some New Hampshire bird species, the report shows that one-third are in long-term decline. The report also looks at threats facing bird populations, and outlines strategies for addressing them.
The report’s primary author, Pamela D. Hunt, Ph.D., will discuss her findings and answer questions. Other speakers include Michael Bartlett, President of NH Audubon; Glenn Normandeau, Executive Director of NH Fish and Game; and John Kanter, Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Coordinator for NH Fish and Game.
Copies of the report will be available to attendees.
