Marine Rule Hearing May 20, 2009, on Rules for Recreational Haddock Length Limit, Lobster Tail Processing Permit
DURHAM, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on proposed marine rule changes on May 20, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, N.H. The hearing will be of particular interest to recreational harvesters of haddock and the lobster industry.
The proposed rule changes under consideration would decrease the minimum length for haddock taken recreationally from 19 to 18 inches, to make it compatible with the length requirement in Federal waters for haddock.
Fish and Game also proposes to develop a permitting process to allow the processing of green (raw/uncooked) lobster tails in New Hampshire.
The complete marine rulemaking notice forms, with original and proposed rule language, may be found at www.wildnh.com/Legislative/Notices_summary.htm.
Written comments on the proposed changes may be submitted by June 1, 2009. E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org (please put "Comment on Marine Rules" in subject line); fax to (603) 271-1438; or mail to Executive Director, N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301.
