Missing Young Man Located in Lee, N.H.
LEE, N.H. -- On Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at approximately 9 a.m., search crews coordinated by the N.H. Fish and Game Department began the third day of searching for Russell Call of Newton, Mass., age 19. As searchers began to enter the woods, they were notified that Call's mother had advised the police that the young man had contacted her and was currently at a residence near Route 152 in Lee, N.H.
When law enforcement officials approached Call's location, the young man was very cooperative. He was medically evaluated, and, considering the amount of time he had spent outdoors in wet, cool weather, he was in relatively good condition. The young man was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., for further evaluation.
Call's activity during the time he was missing is being investigated. He had fled when police attempted to stop him for speeding early Sunday morning (June 21, 2009) and led police on a chase, eventually becoming involved in a motor vehicle collision on Route 125 in the town of Epping, N.H., near the Lee town line. When State Police arrived on the scene soon after the crash, the young man had disappeared.
Agencies participating in the search effort were: N.H. Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers, assisted by members of New England K-9 Search and Rescue, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, Lee NH police and fire departments, N.H. State Police, Seacoast Emergency Response Team, University of New Hampshire Police, Madbury NH Fire Department, Epping Police Department, Durham NH Police Department, Nottingham NH Police Department. The employees of EnviroVantage provided a command post facility and logistical support for the search operation.
