"Feel'n Top Notch" Outdoor Expo & Wellness Fair -- August 1 in Franconia
FRANCONIA, N.H. -- Bring the family for a day exploring outdoor skills and wellness in an exciting environment at the Second Annual Feel'n Top Notch Outdoor Expo and Wellness Fair on Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Cannon Mountain Peabody Lodge at Franconia Notch State Park in Franconia, N.H.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Littleton Regional Hospital, Cannon Mountain, Pemigewassett Valley Search & Rescue, Franconia Parks & Recreation and the Franconia Notch and Lincoln Area chambers of commerce are event co-sponsors.
"Come enjoy a fun-filled day at beautiful Cannon Mountain - in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains. This event is truly one of the great bargains of the summer," said Frank Grima, President of the Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce.
Admission is $5 per adult; kids under age 12 are free. Admission includes all activities, exhibits and demonstrations, with the exception of tram rides and boat rentals.
The Expo will include activities, demonstrations, entertainment and games. Try a climbing wall; see bike demos; try a chair massage; pick up tips on fishing, map and compass, wilderness first aid, herbal medicine and more! Learn about hiking with dogs and children, campfire safety, moose myths and facts, alpine plants and mammals, hypothermia, and information every hiker should know. In addition, more than 40 vendors will be on hand to demonstrate outdoor or health-related services or products.
"The Feel'n Top Notch Outdoor Expo and Wellness Fair will showcase all that the Park has to offer year round in a fun and exciting environment," said John DeVivo, General Manager of Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park.
At this event, you'll have fun and get healthier, too! The wellness fair component will include free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings, massage therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, herbal medicine, acupuncture and more.
"We are pleased to host this event, as it provides an opportunity for families to participate in outdoor activities and learn healthy lifestyles," said Gail Clark, director of development and community relations at Littleton Regional Hospital (LRH). "Having the wellness component is an added benefit for everyone, as LRH will offer free health screenings and health related information."
Adding to the fun, the Top Notch Triathlon, takes place on the same day - Saturday, August 1, 2009. The triathlon starts in Franconia, NH. Bikers will ride along 3 miles of paved road before embarking on a wooded uphill trail climb to the top of Franconia
Notch; swimmers will then plunge into pristine Echo Lake; and for the last leg, hikers will climb up the ski trails of Cannon Mountain. The vertical rise from lake to the summit is 2,280 feet. On-line registration is available at www.littletonhospital.org.
"The Feeln' Top Notch Wellness Expo is a growing event and a welcomed addition to regional events at Cannon Mountain and the Franconia Region. Combining the Outdoor Wellness Expo and the Top Notch Triathlon is brilliant in that both events focus on good health and health habits," said Grima. "The splendid array of outdoor exhibits and activities are sure to please and bring out many families. The Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce is very proud to be a sponsor of the Second Annual Feel'n Top Notch Wellness Expo and the Top of the Notch Triathlon as premiere regional events!"
