Four Teenagers Injured in Four-wheeler Accident in Alton

ALTON, N.H. -- Four 15-year-old teenagers from Mansfield, Mass., were injured on Monday afternoon (May 25, 2009) when the two four-wheelers they were riding collided together on Sunset Shore Drive in Alton. 

According to Sgt. James Juneau of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, one of the four-wheelers driven by a female operator with a male passenger rear-ended a second four-wheeler, also occupied by a female operator and male passenger.  The four teenagers were ejected and sustained injuries; all were reported to have been wearing helmets at the time.

The teenagers were all transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.  Three of the teenagers were treated for injuries, including fractured bones, sprains and abrasions, and were released.  One of the boys had head injuries and was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

The accident is under investigation by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.  Police officers from the Alton Police Department also assisted in the accident investigation.
