|"Duck Blind Heaven," by Robert Childress|
CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and New Hampshire Ducks Unlimited are pleased to announce the availability of prints of "Duck Blind Heaven" by Robert Childress. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of each print will benefit both organizations.
The original painting portrays the artist's duck blind in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, with his wife and a neighbor as models. The artist was the late Robert Childress, a commercial artist in the 1940s. He is fondly remembered as the illustrator of the Dick, Jane and Sally reading books in the early 1960s. Magazines such as Yankee, Country Gentleman and Readers Digest have used Childress's artwork for magazine covers and story illustrations.
Childress was a friend of artist Norman Rockwell, and they both painted in the realism style, with similar shades of humor. Childress is known for commercial art he did for companies like Coca Cola, Campbell's Soup and Buster Brown Shoes. He also painted portraits of notables such as U.S. Supreme Court Justice James Byrnes.
The giclee print of "Duck Blind Heaven" costs $300 plus shipping. The print measures 24 by 22 inches and is printed on archival paper, shipped with a foam core backing via UPS.
