Ceremonial Bill Signing and Kick-off Event for Hunting Adventure Permits

CONCORD, N.H. - A ceremonial bill signing will take place on Friday, November 30, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. in the State House Executive Council Chambers. Governor John Lynch will sign House Bill 657 and kick off a new program that authorizes the Executive Director of the Fish and Game Department to issue up to two hunting adventure permits for any species including moose, free of charge, to a nonprofit organization. Key partners in this effort will include the national Hunt of a Lifetime Inc.  the NH Wildlife Federation, and the Safari Club International, NH Chapter. Members of the New Hampshire Guides Association are also ready to assist in the new program.

The permits will be given to selected New Hampshire people under age 21 with life-threatening, critical or terminal illnesses. The permits will be good in any area of the state during the appropriate legal hunting season.  If adventure permits for moose are designated, they will not affect the number of permits available in the state moose hunt lottery.

Special guests and speakers at the event will include the Governor, Prime Sponsor Representative Robert L'Heureux; Tina Patteson from Hunt of a Lifetime Inc.,; Joe Norton, Executive Director of the NH Wildlife Federation; Russ Kott from the Safari Club; and Steve Weber, Wildlife Division Chief at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
