Public Meeting on Proposed Changes to Early Waterfowl, Woodcock Seasons
CONCORD, N.H. - A public meeting to address early season waterfowl regulations, which include recommendations for crows, sea ducks, resident Canada geese, youth waterfowl, snipe and woodcock, will be held on June 20, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at New Hampshire Fish and Game Headquarters on Hazen Drive in Concord.
"The proposal involves some small date changes in the woodcock and snipe seasons to improve hunter success by capturing some of the time that migrant birds are around in New Hampshire," said Fish and Game Waterfowl Project Leader Ed Robinson.
The proposal would set the woodcock season for October 6 through November 4, with a bag limit of 3 birds per day. Currently, the season runs from October 1-30, with a limit of 3 birds per day. The proposal would also extend the snipe season to November 4, so the closing dates for those two species are consistent. No other changes are being proposed for the early season species.
The changes would take effect for the 2007 season.
