2007 N.H. Moose Lottery Closes May 25
Total of 675 permits will be offered

CONCORD, N.H. - Hunters dreaming of hunting moose in New Hampshire this fall should enter the lottery soon. The deadline for the 2007 New Hampshire moose hunt lottery is May 25. For the second year in a row, New Hampshire Fish and Game is offering 675 permits, higher than offerings in previous years. The odds of being selected are about 1 in 20 for residents and 1 in 55 for nonresidents -- some of the best odds in the nation for moose hunting.

Enter the lottery online at (click here for online license and lottery application sales) or pick up an application from any fish and game license agent. There is a nonrefundable $10 application fee.

Another plus -- a bonus point system improves chances for unsuccessful applicants who apply each consecutive year. Don't miss a year, or you'll lose all your points. Hunters who accept permits are not eligible to enter the lottery for the following three years.

Lottery applications for 2007 must be postmarked or submitted online by midnight Eastern Time, May 25, 2007, or delivered to N.H. Fish and Game headquarters in Concord before 4 p.m. that day. Winners will be selected through a computerized random drawing on June 22, 2007.

New Hampshire's moose hunt runs from October 20 - 28, 2007. The increased number of permits being offered will help carry out the Department's Big Game Management Plan objective of modestly reducing the moose population in the Connecticut Lakes Region. In 2006, more than 16,300 applicants entered the N.H. moose hunt lottery.
