Public Hearing Set for Proposal on Length Limit and Recreational Season for Cod
CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule change affecting the length limit and recreational season for cod fishing. The hearing will take place on October 3, 2006, at 7 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center at 45 Elwyn Road in Portsmouth.
The proposal affects persons taking cod recreationally in state waters. Fish and Game is proposing to readopt with amendment Fis 603.09 to increase the length limit of cod taken recreationally from 22 to 24 inches; and to disallow the recreational taking of cod during the months of November through March. This change will make the state regulations compatible with the regulations for federal waters. Questions about the proposed rule should be directed to Fish and Game's Marine Division at (603) 868-1095.
