Register for Fall "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" Workshop

CONCORD, N.H. -- Women interested in learning outdoor skills in a fun, noncompetitive setting can sign up for the fall Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (B.O.W.) workshop offered by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation. Registration is first-come, first-served, and opens June 6 through July 8, 2005.

Click here to visit the New Hampshire B.O.W. website www.nhbow.com, where print-and-mail applications will be available as of June 3, 2005; or call (603) 271-3212 to request an application. Sign up as soon as possible, as the workshop fills up fast.

This year's fall B.O.W. workshop takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 9-11, 2005, at Rockywold/Deephaven Camps on Squam Lake in Holderness. Enrollment is limited to 115 people. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. The cost is $275, which includes lodging, meals, instruction and equipment use. Some scholarships are available; call (603) 271-3212 for scholarship deadlines.

"B.O.W. is an amazing weekend of learning outdoor skills in the supportive company of other women," said Fish and Game's Laura Ryder, coordinator of the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program for New Hampshire. "We give women a chance to explore all kinds of challenging outdoor activities that may become lifelong interests."

The B.O.W. weekend includes more than 30 course offerings, including archery, fly-fishing, hiking, canoeing, handling firearms, outdoor survival, kayaking, campfire cooking and much more. Participants mix-and-match three or four classes during the weekend, depending on their interests.

The weekend of workshops for women has been offered annually since 1995.

If you know any women who want to get started in outdoor pursuits for the first time or build on the skills they already have, encourage them to visit http://www.nhbow.com to see a gallery of photos from previous workshops and find out more about this exciting program, or call (603) 271-3212.
