Body of Drowning Victim Recovered
CONCORD, N.H. -- The body of Bryan Richards, age 39, of Peabody, Massachusetts, was recovered today from the Pemigewassett River in Lincoln, N.H. Richards had been presumed drowned since October 17, when he jumped into the river in an attempt to rescue his dog. The victim's family was notified at approximately 1:30 this afternoon.
A New Hampshire State Police helicopter was used to conduct an aerial search. Recovery was made by N.H. State Police, N.H. Fish and Game and Lincoln Police and Fire personnel.
Flood conditions in the area made for a particularly difficult search effort. Richards' body was recovered about eight miles from the location where he was last seen. The New Hampshire National Guard, U.S. Forest Service and Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife also participated in the 11-day search.
