Maine Reciprocal OHRV Registration Rescinded

CONCORD, N.H. -- New Hampshire off-highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) users headed for trails in Maine should be aware that they now must register their wheeled vehicles to ride in Maine or face penalties for being unregistered. Maine recently rescinded the reciprocal registration agreement formerly in place between the two states.

Fish and Game officials noted that Maine OHRV operators riding in New Hampshire now will have to pay a registration fee to ride their vehicles in the Granite State. By law, since Maine has rescinded reciprocal registration, New Hampshire must follow suit.

"We would like to have kept the reciprocal agreement," said Capt. Timothy Acerno of N.H. Fish and Game, "but we can understand that Maine had to make a change because expanded use of trails by wheeled vehicles is putting increased demands on the state, and their program is funded by user registrations."
