Just sign up for a free class at New Hampshire Fish and Game and brush up on everything you need to know to get out and start reeling in the big ones. Fishing is a relaxing way to connect with your family and friends, enjoy the outdoors and take home a tan and -- with any luck -- some tasty fish.
New Hampshire Fish and Game is offering a free four-part class called Let's Go Fishing on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. from April 8-29. Presented in partnership with Merrimack County 4-H, the class will be held at the Fish and Game headquarters at 2 Hazen Drive in Concord. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. To sign up, call Merrimack County 4-H at (603) 225-5505.
The class introduces the sport of fishing to new anglers from age 8 to 88. Certified instructors will teach you all the skills you need to have a successful fishing experience. You'll learn how to cast a line, tie knots, identify various kinds of fish and take care of your catch. You'll find out about the best natural baits and artificial lures, as well as exploring angler ethics. This class is a great way to get started on a healthy, inexpensive pastime that offers a lifetime of family fun.
The Let's Go Fishing program introduces thousands of people each year to an outdoor activity that fosters good stewardship of New Hampshire's aquatic resources. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department works to conserve, manage and protect the state's fish and wildlife and their habitats, as well as providing the public with opportunities to use and appreciate these resources.
