New Clam Rule: Clamming on Saturdays Only

DURHAM, N.H. - Under a new rule adopted by Fish and Game, recreational clamming in New Hampshire is allowed only on Saturdays, effective January 1, 2003.

Previously, clamming was permitted on Fridays and Saturdays. The new rule is designed to reduce the clam harvest while fisheries biologists monitor clam flats and try to determine the cause of young clams' low survival rate in recent years.

Call the clam hotline at 1-800-43-CLAMS for local clam flat closure information. Resident permits for recreational clamming can be purchased through a Fish and Game license agent or online.
