Summer Kayak Programs
Celebrate summer with a paddle on Great Bay.
GREENLAND, N.H. -- The Great Bay Discovery Center at 89 Depot Road in Greenland, NH, is offering the following paddling events this summer. For more information or to register, call (603) 778-0015.
Sunset Birding - July 2 and 17, 2014, from 5-7pm
Join us for an evening as we search for our beaked friends. As the sky turns a lovely hue, we will look for osprey, great blue heron, egret, king fisher, and many more estuary inhabitants. Level: No prior paddling experience necessary. Location: Great Bay Discovery Center; Cost: $35 per person, $25 for Great Bay Stewards Member, $15 with own kayak.
Harvest Moon Paddle - September 5, 2014, from 7:30-10pm
Help us welcome fall with a paddle on the Great Bay as the sun sets and the moon rises. This trip will feature all things fall. Cider, doughnuts, and tales of the Harvest Moon will make this a wonderful way to spend your evening. Level: Prior kayak experience is necessary. Please provide your own kayak for this program. Location: Great Bay Discovery Center; Cost: $35 per person.
Sunset Stewards Paddle - August 1, 2014, 5 from 5-7pm
One of the many perks of being a member of the Great Bay Stewards is your very own member trip on Great Bay. You will paddle on the clear water as we watch the sun set. Birds and other animals are active on the Bay at this time making this a great opportunity for wildlife viewing. This program is only available to Great Bay Stewards Members and is free of charge. Level: No prior paddling experience necessary. Location: Great Bay Discovery Center.
What'SUP? - July 16 and August 14, 2014, from 4-6pm;
Standing over the water allows you to see life under the water much more clearly. Achieve this with the latest paddling craze, Stand Up Paddleboarding or SUP. This trip will provide an awesome core workout while you enjoy Great Bay and all it has to offer. Level: No prior paddling experience necessary. Instruction will be provided by SUP NH. Location: Great Bay Discovery Center; Cost: $40 per person.
River to Sea Series
This trip series will take us from the River to the Sea. We will focus on learning how human activities and behavior at the top of the watershed affect other people and the environment all the way from the headwaters to the ocean. This paddle series will consist of three trips with each focusing on a section of the watershed. You can sign up for all three, but it is not required. Please provide your own kayak for this program.
