Public Hearing on Proposed Aquaculture Operation Near Isles of Shoals

DURHAM, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on a proposed marine aquaculture license on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, N.H.  The public is welcome to attend and to offer comments on the proposed aquaculture plan.

The proposed aquaculture operation is for blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) in a 10-acre site on deep water suspended lines.  The location is south of White Island Ledge, Isles of Shoals, with water depths over 100 feet.  The applicants are Vincent and Justin Prien and Peter Flanigan.

Detailed plans for this project are available for public review on this page or at the Department’s Region 3 office in Durham, N.H.
