Westford, Mass., Man Injured in Moultonborough Snowmobile Crash

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. – A Westford, Massachusetts, man was seriously injured in a late-night snowmobile crash on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire's Lakes Region this weekend.

Brandon Fitzgerald, age 23, of Westford, Massachusetts, was riding a snowmobile on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 12:45 a.m. on Lake Winnipesaukee near Long Island near Moultonborough, N.H.  He hit a snow berm and was ejected 83 feet, hitting a guardrail on Long Island Road. He was wearing a helmet. People in his group watching his lights and seeing them disappear from sight, went and found him. He was unconscious, so they called 911.

Moultonborough Police and Stewart's Ambulance Service out of Meredith, N.H., responded. Fitzgerald was taken by ambulance to the Moultonborough Airport, where he was transported by DHART helicopter to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.  As of Monday, March 3, Fitzgerald remains there in serious condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
