Spring Outdoor Adventure Talks at N.H. Fish and Game
CONCORD, N.H. -- Get inspired for outdoor adventures this year at a series of evening talks the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is presenting in April. No pre-registration is required. Unless otherwise specified, the talks start at 7 p.m. at Fish and Game headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. Admission is free (except film festival). The series includes a range of topics on New Hampshire wildlife and outdoor recreation:
April 2, 2014: Take your Fly Fishing to the Next Level
N.H. Fishing Guide Angus Boezeman helps you get the fly fishing season started with ideas for improving your technique and catch ratio. Bring your questions on fishing situations, from types of flies and how to fish them, to improving your overall game plan. A different approach to fly fishing can help build your confidence on the water.
April 10, 2014: New Hampshire Raptors
See live birds of prey at this talk by Kevin Wall of New Hampshire Audubon. Learn to distinguish the different raptor species that call New Hampshire home. Explore the unique role these predators play in our ecosystem and conservation efforts underway that have helped increase and stabilize the state's raptor populations. This talk is a great chance to get up close and personal with some amazing birds of prey.
April 16, 2014: Reel Paddling Film Festival at Red River Theatres (Concord)
Get set for armchair thrills and chills as you run the rapids at the Reel Paddling Film Fest. Co-sponsored by Fish and Game and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. April 23, 2014: Introduction to Kayak Fishing
Shawn Roche, kayak instructor at the Mountain Road Trading Post in Raymond, N.H., explains the pros and cons of different styles of kayaks used for fishing. He will also demonstrate some of the many different accessories to enhance the kayak fishing experience, including rod holders, fishfinders, lights and anchor systems. Participants will also get some pointers on kayak safety and paddling skills – because it's all about having fun out on the water!
