ATV Crash in Jericho Sends Massachusetts Woman to Hospital

LANCASTER, N.H. -- A Massachusetts woman is lucky to be alive after crashing her rental ATV over a steep embankment in Jericho State Park Saturday in northern New Hampshire Saturday afternoon.  Officials say that 35-year-old Alaina Grady of Abington, MA, failed to negotiate a curve on the Brook Road Trail, sending her and the ATV over a 30-foot embankment, narrowly missing a head-on collision with a tree.  Grady was riding with her boyfriend, who made the call for help after the crash.

Rescue personnel from Berlin Fire Department, Berlin EMS, Berlin Police Department, as well as the regional Rescue UTV from Gorham, responded to the scene and provided first response medical treatment, as well as extraction of the patient up the embankment to the awaiting ambulance. Grady was then transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Grady was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor.  However, unreasonable speed was the leading cause of the crash.
