Missing Girl Located on Green Mountain
Effingham, N.H. -- On June 9th 2013 at 2pm, 19 year old female resident Joelle Ferstenberg walked away from the Lakeview Neuro Rehabilitation Center in Effingham N.H. where she resides. Joelle left the facility wearing pajamas and only socks on her feet. Crews searched for Joelle day and night since her disappearance. The cold rain over Monday evening and throughout Tuesday made search efforts difficult for searchers and volunteers who faced hiking over steep mountainous terrain and sledged through waist high bogs.
At approximately 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Fish and Game personnel received a call advising that Joelle was located by a local hiker on the peak of Green Mountain. Conservation Officers and Effingham Fire fighters hiked to her location where she was treated for mild hypothermia placed in a litter and carried off the Mountain by rescuers. Once off the Mountain, Joelle was transported via ambulance to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
Crews participating in the search include: NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers, New England K-9 Search and Rescue, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Search Team, Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Team, NH State Police helicopter, Civil Air Patrol, Effingham, Freedom and Ossipee Fire Departments, Effingham Police, Caretraks, Lakeview Neuro Rehabilitation Center personnel and local volunteers.
Conservation Officers wish to thank the many dedicated volunteers who came out to assist them in the search.
