Injured Hiker Carried Off Boulder Loop Trail

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. – A team of rescuers carried an injured hiker to safety in Albany, N.H., Saturday evening (June 1, 2013). Dr. William Segel of Berlin, Vermont, age 70, was climbing with some friends on the Boulder Loop Trail, when he slipped and fell about twenty feet, sustaining leg injuries.  A 911 call for help was made at 6:05 p.m.  Rescuers reached the injured man at approximately 7:30 p.m. and carried him a half mile to the trailhead, where he was taken to the hospital for treatment.  Hiking safety website

The carryout was accomplished by New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation OfficerRonald Arsenault and several members of the Conway Fire Department and the Mountain Rescue Service.
