Fish Hatcheries, Visitor Centers, Education Centers

Visit one of our hatcheries or visitor/education centers in the state. At Fish and Game's fish hatcheries, learn about how fish are hatched and reared. Hatcheries are open year-round, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guided tours are available by reservation (see exceptions due to construction noted below). The Twin Mountain and Warren hatcheries also have educational centers (NOTE: Warren Hatchery Wildlife Center is only open from May to September). These hatcheries are staffed by a dedicated, hardworking group of individuals who not only understand the technical challenges of raising fish... they also love to fish themselves!

You may have seen Milford's fish transport truck in southern New Hampshire. Hauling fish from hatchery to water requires specialized, oxygenated tanks.

Owl Brook Hunter Education Center

The mission of the center is to educate people in the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to become safe and responsible hunters, trappers and stewards of the state's natural resources. Owl Brook offers a modern classroom, shooting range, archery course and self-guided interpretive trails covering topics such trapper education, hunter education, map and compass, and wildlife habitat management. The Discovery Room
The Discovery Room at Fish and Game's Concord headquarters is a window on New Hampshire's great outdoors... complete with a life-sized moose cow and her calf!

The Discovery Room shows an array of New Hampshire landscapes that are so realistic that children and adults alike will forget that they're getting an education. Explore the sights and sounds of these landscapes, including a pond, stream, beaver pond, meadow, woodland, vernal pool, boreal (spruce/fir) forest, and even a typical back yard.

Come to Fish and Game's Concord headquarters at 11 Hazen Drive and check it out! The Discovery Room is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Groups should call first to make arrangements -- 603-271-3211.

Part of Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, this center provides opportunities to learn about coastal and marine life.
