"Thought I'd send along this picture
of my buddy Bill with a fish he caught last summer. This bass
was caught by Bill Donoghue at Sunrise Lake in Middleton, NH.
The fish was caught in early August of 2005. We are not sure
of the exact weight, but we
guessed it weighed 5 to 6 pounds. Ironically it was a
very slow day fishing, and this was the only fish caught." --John
Murdough

"This is a photo of Matthew Nixon,
Lee, NH, age 5. This was Matthew's first BIG catch. He is now
hooked on fishing. This largemouth bass was caught in Greenfield,
NH while on a camping trip." --Wendy Nixon

"The boys are getting
to be better anglers every day...of course, Dad's expert
guidance and their willingness
to listen learn and respect nature are paying off BIG. Catch
and Release is the way! A NEW fishing fanatic...5 Year
old A.J. Morrow (left) just finished learning how to bait
and cast on his own and his reward was a nice largemouth
bass caught on the Nashua River. He was so excited while
reeling in the bass he spilled the night crawlers he was
using for bait all over the boat! Curtis
Morrow (right) bags a beauty of a bucketmouth using a topwater
plug on the Nashua river, length and weight unknown...next
up for his fishing education: "Rubber
worm finesse fishing!" --James Morrow

 |
"Here is a picture
of Paul Dubriske, Keene, with a nice Winnipesaukee salmon,
22", 4½ lbs., caught out of Wolfeboro Bay. Also
caught 3 rainbows that day, the largest of which was 19".
Another satisfied customer!" --Gabe Gries, fisheries
biologist, Region 4/Keene

"I caught this 22", 5.5-lb.
largemouth at Haunted Lake. We fish there often and have never
seen anything close to this size. He must be the King of the
Lake! I caught him on a 5-inch green Venom worm just off the
grassline in about 1.5 feet of water. --Matt Titus

"Hunter Massucco, age 7, Keene
NH.
Hunter caught this nice 2-lb. largemouth bass with his dad & grandfather
at Spofford Lake."
|
 |
"12-year-old Ally LeBaron,
of Concord N.H., caught this nice 19.5-inch smallmouth bass
at Pawtuckaway State Park while camping with her Dad and best
friend, Meg, on June 28, 2005. It was caught right near shore
while a bunch of other young campers looked on with amazement.
Of course, we used our favorite bait, crayfish, that are also
a lot of fun to catch beforehand. Big crayfish will always
catch big fish... I measured this fish from the nose to the
middle of the tail fin while holding the fish and if anything,
feel this to be a conservative measurement and now when I look
at the fish, it seems it was ever bigger!! --Steve LeBaron

"Just thought I'd share a nice
New Hampshire largemouth. No scale or tape -- just took a quick
photo then released. I only live three minutes from where I
was fishing, had to get a photo for bragging rights! Fish was
caught June 18, 2005, in the Piscatatog river, Goffstown." --Will

"My Pops, Charles
Smith from Colorado Springs, CO, visited this past summer and
had a great time. We went fishing as much as we could and he
claims that the best fishing in the lower 48 is right here
in New Hampshire. We went to Little Lake Sunapee and he caught
15 bass in about 4 hours. The largest was a 4-lb., 7-oz.
largemouth, and 3-4 pound smallmouths. He also caught some
trout, 17 to
18 inches. We released all of the fish that we caught, and
he will come back to see if he can catch them again. I want
to thank you for the great job the department is doing for
the state keeping our waters full of fish." --Edmund
Smith

|
"Here is a photo of my wife, Gail, and
the largest fish that she ever caught. Again it was on the
same outing
with my pops (left). This smallie weighted 3 lbs. 14 oz. on
a digital scale." --Edmund Smith

"Here is one that I caught.
Nice smallmouth, 3 lbs 7 oz. As you can see [from 2 pictures
above], we caught a lot of fish that day and it sure was a
pleasure to
have my
Pops
eyes light up with joy. (Mom
passed away in Feb.) By the way, Pops is a war hero
from the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from
the army and was a Command Sergeant Major at FT. Carson,
CO (He was the highest decorated soldier at Ft. Carson when
he retired). --Edmund Smith

"Saturday (August 20, 2005) was
a great day to fish Lake Massabesic. It is nice to see Fish & Game
maintaining our lakes. My freezer is stocked with a few bags
of filets of white perch. I also decided this bass would make
a good lunch one day this winter, I sincerely believe in catch
and release, but once in a while fish becomes my meal. I have
yet to try a crappie, but that fish is on my list. A lot of
fishermen tell me they are very tasty? We will soon find out." --David
Karam

 |
"Here's a pic of a
fish that I caught on a small pond in Pittsfield. This was
the largest largemouth that I have ever caught (and released)
-- it was 5 lbs., 3 oz. and was 23 inches long, I weighed it
on my Rappala Digital scale. As you can see in the background
I didn't get much fishing in after I caught it, but I still
went home happy." --Mike Kennedy, Chichester

and I went out to Turtle Pond in Concord for his 64th birthday.
Dad got his birthday Largemouth Bass, no scale on hand but

birthday." --Frank Beaudoin USN

"The fish were caught on Friday
and Saturday, June 24-25 in Meredith on Lake Winnipesaukee.
All fish were caught on worms dragged across the bottom in
about 7-8' of water. The area was checked before for logs.
Chris Campbell's fish (above left) was caught with Rick Campbell
(dad, above right) watching underwater. He was snorkeling to
check out where not
to cast
(to avoid
getting snagged) and saw the fish near a log. He yelled to
cast at his face. As the worm hit the bottom, Rick saw the
fish take it and followed it as Chris brought it in." Kevin
Campbell is below right, the fish is 13", 1.5 lbs. --Mike

Here is a photo of Mike Campbell with
his big catch. He caught this 19.5 inch largemouth in the Lakes

| "Fred (father - top) and
Garrett (son) Kunz have been very patient and persistent
all spring and early summer on one of their favorite ponds,
constantly experimenting and refining, and it has paid off
big time! Pictured are results from their June 15th trip; the
biggest brookie is 2 lbs., 16 1/8" long, 11" girth;
the other 1 3/4 lbs, 16 1/2" long -- they reported several
other large brookies as well. I heard Garrett can't wipe the
smile from his face!" --John Viar, fisheries biologist,

"Attached are two photos of a largemouth
bass I caught and released last night (June 1, 2005) at a pond
in Concord, NH. It is the biggest fish I have caught so far.
The actual size and weight are unknown (what a time to forget
the scale!). It jumped out of the water three times and after
30 seconds it felt like a trash can lid on the other end of
the line!!! What a fish!!! I'm the one that is hooked here,
can you tell! Fish on" --Amanda Mate, Bedford, NH

| "No bragging here - just a photo of
Leo Ducharme's (my oldest grandson) first two trout. One is
a small
wild brookie from Fergeson Brook in Hancock (sorry, we couldn't
save the little guy with Leo's deep-hookset move); the second
is a whopping Rainbow from Whittimore Pond; this 17" 2
LB beauty put up quite a battle as you will note by the handling
line in the photo. (We have to thank Gabe Gries of Region 4
and ask him also to pass Leo's thanks for the big RBT to Dick
Prunier and the Milford Hatchery staff.) I hope you all (especially
you young guys) can have the same great experience as I had
today. --Don P.S. Leo

"This picture was taken on May
14th, our first day fishing this year. Konner (who caught a
4.5 pound largemouth as his first fish last year) pulled in
2 fish that day -- a 4+ pound largemouth, and the other a smallmouth (above) weighing
almost 3 pounds. They were caught (and released) on night crawlers
at Massabesic. In all, our group caught 16 fish that day. 15
Largemouth/Smallmouth and 1 Crappie. What a great day of fishing." --Rick

"Here's a cod I caught yesterday on a party
boat (Eastmans Docks). These were
caught only 5 miles off of Hampton Harbor! This is proof
that the management of these fish is working fantastic.
I have never
seen fish like these so close to our NH coast. Here are
the details...
The big cod: 31 pounds
Caught on: clams at 185 feet down, 5 miles due East of
Hampton Harbor.

My 1st mate Dave and I had a very productive
weekend fishing Newfound lake in Bristol late in May. Although
the weather was typical of this spring it had the fish "turned
on." Example here is a nice Landlock Salmon caught while
trolling. Early morning and late evening were the keys to "unlock" this
pretty body of water. Wellington State Park is a wonderful
site, offering outdoor enthusiasts a great place to boat, swim,
and hike. --Mark Greenaway, North Hampton, NH

"My son JJ Clark went to the Lee,
NH children's fishing derby on May 7, 2005. He caught his limit

"Here is our info for Kyle's first catch
of 2005. Kyle went for the first time last night (April 2005)
at a local Manchester pond and pulled out this nice looking
perch. He
was thrilled.
This year he can't wait to go fishing with Dad in our boat.
See ya on the water." --Paul (Kyle's Dad); Kyle (5

| "The taking of big lake
trout from Nuby in 2005 continues... Andy Jones and his 10-year-old
son, Kyle, who live in Bedford, were fishing on Lake Nubanusit
for the first time on 4/17/05. They arrived at the lake during
the early morning, but had motor problems... after Andy cut
his hand while attempting to start the motor, they left the
lake to go to Kyle's baseball game. After the game, Kyle asked
if they still had time to drive back to Nuby to
fish, so they ended up back at the lake during late afternoon,
launched, and this time successfully started the motor.
"Kyle was holding the rod and jigging it back and forth
when the fish hit. He quickly found that he couldn't turn
the
reel and called out to his Dad, who assumed they were caught
on bottom. Once his Dad realized they had a fish on, things
got interesting, given that his son was now operating the
boat and he remembered that they did not have a net. Fortunately,
Adam Dubriske and his Dad, Paul, were also fishing
Nuby and happened to be close enough to hear the cries of, "DOES
ANYBODY HAVE A NET!" Of course they did and once they
realized the net-less anglers were serious and had a very
big fish on, they brought up their tackle and made their
way over to Andy and Kyle. Despite the typical, stiff Nuby
breeze, Adam was able to bring his boat alongside theirs,
making sure not to get tangled up with the fish, and Paul
expertly netted the big lake trout.
"I spoke with Andy this
afternoon and he said that his son is still on "cloud
9" and
that he was very grateful for the assistance that Adam and
Paul provided. The fish was 39.5 inches with a 21.25 inch
girth. Andy's scale (uncertified as of yet) showed the fish
weighed 22.5 lbs that evening, while a certified weight taken
the next day, after the fish was already frozen, showed a
weight of 21.37 lbs." --Gabe Gries

Here are pictures of my grandson Nathaniel
Jobin, and I, David Karam, examining a 22-inch bass caught
by me at
Lake Massabesic on worms 5/2/05. My 4-year-old
grandson is not too patient in learning, but he sure wants
to fish after seeing his Grandfather pull this lunker out of
the Lake. I released the fish unharmed. That's another good
lesson to teach. I figure the bass are in for spawning. I normally
fish with flies, but it's hard to teach a young fisherman how
to fish that way. He'll have to wait to fly-fish
until he is older!!! --David Karam, Manchester
