Attention, environmental biology
and ecology high school teachers-- New Hampshire Fish and Game's
Watershed Education Program has an exciting new format that will
put your students where the action is in their own watershed. The
program builds on a framework presented in three phases:
- Phase I- Water quality
and macro-invertebrate identification
- Phase II- assessing
the influence of land use on aquatic communities using GIS
- Phase III- in the future, elements of
aquatic resource management through habitat mapping and population
studies will be added to the program.
This hands-on program
gives your students the opportunity to use the latest technology
while assessing natural resources in their community. For more information,

Watershed
Ecology Institute
July 20-24 and 27-31, 2009, at the Meredith Community Center in Meredith
This 10-day summer institute class is offered through the University
of New Hampshire division of continuing education, and is taught
by staff from New Hampshire Fish and Game, UNH Cooperative Extension
and
the N.H. Department of Environmental Services.
The
class
uses
watersheds as a framework for studying wetlands, rivers, streams,
lakes, ponds and estuaries. In addition to strong background information,
the course includes plenty of curriculum materials and activities
for the classroom. Ideal for science educators, youth leaders and
community leaders. College credit and tuition assistance available.
